A Quiet Place Part II

Paramount Pictures, the studio of the first film, started producing a sequel in April 2018 after the first film’s box office success. By the following August, Krasinski was writing the film, and he was hired as the director in February 2019. Production will take place in western New York from June to September 2019.

The film has its world premiere in New York City on March 8, 2020, and is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 23, 2021. Paramount originally planned to release the film commercially in late March 2020, but postponed its release to September 2020. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the second time is April 2021.

Paramount Pictures produced the first film “A Quiet Place” with a budget of $17 million. Paramount Pictures released the film in the U.S. and Canada in April 2018, with a box office revenue of $50.2 million on the weekend of the premiere, much higher than its mid-term forecast of $20 million. In late April, Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos announced that it was working on a sequel.

The first film eventually won US$188 million in the box office in the United States and Canada, and US$340.9 million in box office worldwide. John Krasinski was the director and star of the first film. He co-wrote the film with others. He said that the film was “one-off”. Unsure if a similar success can be found in the sequel, he initially told Paramount to look for another writer and director. The screenwriters of the first film, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, did not return for a sequel.

Woods said that they are not interested in franchising methods. They would rather try to “create original ideas” and use their writing credits “as an opportunity to promote multiple projects.” Baker said: “Rather than focusing on the sequel itself, it is better to reinvest in the original creative ecosystem in a huge market.”

Three months after “A Quiet Place” was released, Krasinski decided to brainstorm a sequel. According to Krasinski, Paramount rejected the propaganda of other writers and directors who thought it was too franchising. He said: “I have a small idea to make Millie (Symonds) the protagonist of the movie… Her role opened the door to all the themes I dealt with in the first movie.”

The studio invited him to write a script according to his own ideas. As of August 2018, Krasinski is writing this movie. In the following February, he was hired to direct the sequel, and actors Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe were confirmed to be replayed Character. In March, Cillian Murphy joined the cast. In the following June, Brian Tyree Henry joined the cast, but due to scheduling problems, he left the film. In August, he was replaced by Djimon Hounsou.

In June 2019, the sequel began production. Filming officially started on July 15. There were 47 days of shooting in the entire western New York area, including Akron, Alcott, Dunkirk, La Cabana and Buffalo. Other locations include the cities of Erie County and North Tonawanda, and the Port of Barcelona in Westfield Township, Chotoqua County. Filming also took place on a large stage at the Buffalo Film Factory in South Buffalo. One of the last filming locations, the Northbound South Grand Island Bridge, was closed for 13 hours for filming.

In addition to western New York, films were also shot in the Hudson Valley area of New York, especially in the towns of Dover, Pauline and New Paltz. In New Paltz, the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail was re-photographed and filmed on a bridge in the first film. The film invested more than $10 million in upstate New York, created 400 employees and involved 300 background actors. By late September, production had been completed.
