Extension 2 AWE is Control’s second downloadable extension. It is scheduled to be released on August 27, 2020. It can be purchased separately or as part of the bonus for the deluxe edition of the digital version of Control on PlayStation 4.
Expansion 2 AWE stands for “World Changing Event”, which occurs when supernatural forces invade our world. AWE may be small and won’t attract attention, but sometimes they can have disastrous consequences. The investigation department used to be the place where the Federal Bureau of Control coordinated the work from AWE and also the place where evidence was collected. Until things got terrible, very bad, and the department was isolated from the rest of the bureau years ago.
Now, director Jesse Faden (Jesse Faden) must enter the investigation department to hunt down mysterious people who have been haunting this abandoned area for many years. In order to take back the Bureau’s investigation department, Jesse will need to explore the numerous “world-changing events” investigated here, including the incident from the town of Bright Falls. Yes, Bright Falls… is the last time we met Alan Wake, a writer who was missing for ten years. You heard his voice in the trailer and then saw him in the expansion. However, more talk will destroy it.
We believe that this expansion will be more moody and suspenseful than the first expansion, so please stay vigilant. To make sure you are not too scared, Expansion 2 AWE also comes with a new service weapon form called Surge. Essentially, this is a sticky grenade launcher, perfect for blowing up bombs. We also introduced a new enemy type in AWE: the “hiss” airborne commando.
Did you capture these arcade scenes in the AWE trailer? These are special changes that give you access to some new game modes, including clan mode and time trial.
The community has been asking for the function of replaying the story mission. Although we can’t fully provide this function, if you have AWE, you can replay the popular ashtray maze through the arcade game console. As long as you have defeated the boss, you can also replay certain boss fights from Control’s main event. There will definitely be some great rewards, including a new outfit for Jesse.
In addition to the paid AWE extension, all owners of Control will also receive a free update in August. In this version, you will get a new upgrade called Multi-Start Launch, adding more checkpoints to the tricky main story mission, and some quality of life features closer to the update release.
The August free update also includes other availability options in the form of assisted mode. This is a group of game functions, which can be enabled or disabled in the Control options menu.
