Kena Bridge of Spirits is an upcoming action-adventure game developed and published by Ember Lab. The story tells the story of a young spiritual guide, Kena, who uses her magical ability to help the dead transition from the material world to the spiritual world. The game is presented through a third-person perspective. The player uses Kena’s staff to attack the enemy and uses its pulse ability to defend against attacks. Their mission is to collect little spiritual companions named Rot, who help complete the mission and fight the enemy.

The development of the game is led by brothers Mike and Josh Grier, the founders of Ember Lab. After spending several years creating advertisements and branded applications, the development team began to make original video games. They collaborated with Sony Interactive Entertainment for an exclusive console deal and expanded the team to 15 core employees.

The game’s artwork was created in collaboration with Vietnamese animation studio Sparx, and its fictional world is inspired by eastern regions such as Japan and Bali. The original score is composed of Jason Gallaty, who collaborated with the Bali Ensemble GamelanÇudamani to create the respected gamelan music.

Kena Bridge of Spirits was released in June 2020 and is scheduled to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in the first quarter of 2021.

Kena: “Bridge of Spirits” is an action-adventure game from a third-person perspective. The player controls Kena, a young spiritual guide with magical abilities. In battle, players use Kena’s staff to perform light, heavy, and charged attacks. Upgrades turn employees into bows and arrows. When defending against an enemy, the player can activate Kena’s pulse ability, which acts as a shield and has the life value consumed when attacked; it can also provide clues and activate objects.

The player’s task is to collect small spiritual companions called rotten objects. They can be guided to complete tasks, such as moving objects, adopting certain shapes or distracting enemies. The player must harm the enemy before the rotting has enough courage to join the battle. Rot can be customized with different hats. The game uses the haptic feedback of the DualSense controller to implement functions such as Kena’s Spirit Bow.

Kena Bridge of Spirits is located in a fictional place, not where Kena originated. As the main village in the game center world, it was abandoned at the beginning of the game. A tragedy happened hundreds of years ago. Throughout the game, Kena restores the area to an improved state. In the legend of the game, the dead can stay between the physical world and the spiritual world if they are traumatized or unfinished.

As a spiritual guide, Kena tries to understand their difficulties and help them move on. Kena has scars from hand to shoulder, which represents her father’s traumatic experience and will be explored in the game. Other characters include Saiya and Beni, these are two children whose teenage brother Taro is a restless spirit helped by Kena.

Kena Bridge of Spirits was announced at the PlayStation’s Future of Games event on June 11, 2020. It is scheduled to be released at the end of 2020 and is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It is a timing console and will be released on Windows. Through the Epic Games Store. Players who purchase the PlayStation 4 version will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free. In September 2020, Ember Lab postponed the game to the first quarter of 2021 on the grounds that working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in development work.
