In February 2019, it was announced that MGM has obtained the script of Bragi F.Schut, the script named Samaritan, which will be co-produced with Balboa Productions. In September 2019, Julius Avery joined the production as the director.
In February 2019, it was announced that Sylvester Stallone will play a nominal role and also serve as a producer. In February 2020, Martin Starr, Moisés Arias, Dascha Polanco, Pilou Asbæk, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Jared Odrick, and Michael Aaron Milligan joined the showbiz. In March 2020, Natacha Karam participated in the film.
In September 2019, filming is scheduled to start in Atlanta in 2020. Confirmed to start shooting on February 26, 2020. On March 14, production was stopped due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As of October 8, 2020, the shooting has resumed.

Samaritan is scheduled to be released on June 4, 2021. It was previously scheduled to be released on December 11, 2020, and November 20, 2020.
