Infidel is a 2019 American political action thriller film written, directed and produced by Cyrus Nowrasteh and starring Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan, Hal Ozsan, Stelio Savante, Aly Kassem, Bijan Daneshmand, and Isabelle Adriani. The film was produced by conservative political expert Dinesh D’Souza through his production company D’Souza Media.
This is the second collaboration between Nowrasteh and Caviezel, following “Stoning of Soraya M.” (2008). Both films deal with the corruption and human rights violations of the Iranian regime and focus on the foreign journalists (played by Caviezel) whose rights have been violated and violated by the Iranian opposition. The movie was released by Cloudburst Entertainment in American theaters on September 18, 2020.
The outspoken American journalist Doug Rawlins and blogger were kidnapped by the Iranian regime while speaking in Cairo, Egypt. He was then taken to the Middle East and tried on false and false accusations of espionage. His wife Liz is an official of the State Department, and she tried to use her influence to involve the US government. She hoped that the US government would let her husband return to China. However, she soon realized that the US government would not intervene. She was forced to go to the Middle East to find him herself.
“Infidel” was written, directed, and produced by Iranian-American film producer Cyrus Nowrasteh. It is the spiritual successor to his 2009 film “Stoning of Soraya M.”, which also deals with the abuse and corruption of the Iranian regime, and starred in Jim Caviezel as the regime Opposing foreign journalists. Nowrasteh cited some real cases of American citizens imprisoned by the Iranian government, including Xiyue Wang and Robert Levinson.
The film was shot in Jordan, where Nowrasteh had filmed Soraya M. Nowrasteh stated on his website that the Jordanian Film Commission had kept its production secret for fear of opposition from the Iranian government and that the film was highly secure. The Iranian government is indeed aware that Novalash is filming in Amman and expresses its dissatisfaction with the Jordanian government.
The story focuses on Iranian underground Christians led mainly by women. They work with Muslims who also oppose the Iranian regime in the film, by helping the main characters Doug Rollins (played by Jim Caviezel) and his wife Liz (played by Claudia Karvan) . Another actress was scheduled to play Liz, but due to a conflict of promises, she left the film only a few weeks before the film was shot. Karviezel recommended Karvan, and she spent the “Long Weekend” (Long Weekend, 2008) with her.

One of the producers of this film is Dinesh D’Souza, who has produced several political documentaries, including 2016: “Obama’s America”, “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party” and “Death of a Nation” “. Infidel is his first narrative film.
In March 2020, CloudBurst Entertainment obtained the copyright of the film and set it to be released on September 11, 2020 (later delayed by one week). “Infidel” was released in American theaters on September 18, 2020.
