The New Mutants is an upcoming superhero type American horror film adapted from the Marvel comics team of the same name released by 20th Century Studios. It is intended as the last part of the X-Men movie series. The film is directed by Josh Boone (Josh Boone), co-starred with him in the screenplay of Knate Lee (Knate Lee), and played Maisie Williams (Masie Williams), Anja Taylor Joey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Charlie Heaton (Charlie Heaton), Alice Braga (Alice Braga), Blue Hunter (Ben Hunt) and Henry Zaga (Henry Zaga). In the film, a group of young mutants is held in a secret facility and fight to save themselves.
After Boone and Lee finished “The Fault in Our Stars” in 2014, they started to make the movie. The two recommended a potential movie trilogy to X-Men producer Simon Kinberg and officially signed the project in May 2015. There are rumors that Taylor Joy and Williams will be staged in March 2016 and will be confirmed a year later after the rest of the cast is confirmed.
The filming took place in Boston, Massachusetts from July to September 2017, mainly at Medfield State Hospital. The filming time was April 2018. The film was later delayed, and at the same time it was planned to be re-shot, Disney began the process of acquiring the production company 20th Century Fox. After the acquisition was completed, Boone resumed shooting the film, and it was completed in March 2020 without re-shooting.
The New Mutants is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 28, 2020. The movie was originally scheduled to be released in April 2018, and there have been several other release dates since its first announcement. Boone was originally planned to be the first in a movie trilogy, but Boone said this was unlikely to happen because Disney’s Marvel Studios controlled the characters.
