No Letting Go : Based on the award-winning short film “Illness”, “No Letting Go” tells the story of the Spencer family. The neutron Timothy of the Spencer family suffers from anxiety, depression and mood disorders. As his symptoms became weaker and weaker, his parents faced painful and difficult choices, and these changes would change their lives forever. As Timothy became more and more vulnerable and unable to cope with life, the family world began to disintegrate. Timothy’s daily life brought them painful challenges, which brought a heavy burden to his parents’ marriage and brother’s happiness. Life is full of debilitating panic attacks, anger, doctors and drugs.

The family must play an indispensable role in finding the help he needs, but the price paid is disastrous. In the end, love, strength and courage will prevail to demonstrate the resilience of the human spirit. Timothy’s journey is a familiar story for many families, who suffer silently and alone in the process of trying to understand and seek help for their children. The widespread stigma surrounding mental illness prevents people from seeking the help they need. “Don’t Let Go” is a story that must be told in order to promote an open dialogue about the importance of understanding mental health among young people in our society. Only awareness and open dialogue can eliminate stigma and bring better results for future generations.
