“Star Wars Squadrons” is an upcoming space combat game in the “Star Wars” universe developed by Motive Studios and released by Electronic Arts. It is scheduled to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 2, 2020. The game’s storyline will be determined after “Return of the Jedi”.
The player controls ships from the Galactic Empire and the Navy of the New Republic. In these ships, they can use the power transmission between the ship’s weapons, shields and engine functions to defeat their opponents in battle. The spaceships from the Galactic Empire have no shields, so they provide equal opportunities for players of both teams while pursuing other levels. As players gain more experience, they can unlock new weapons, shields, upgrades, and various decorative items for pilots and their ships.
There are four types of ships on both sides. In terms of the Galactic Empire, there are:
TIE Fighter – Fighter Class
TIE Interceptor – Interceptor Class
TIE Bomber – Bomber Class
TIE Reaper – Support Class
For the New Republic navy there are the:
X-Wing – Fighter Class
A-Wing – Interceptor Class
Y-Wing – Bomber Class
U-Wing – Support Class
The game has two multiplayer modes and a single player mode:
Story – In the story after the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the second Death Star, the story alternates between two customizable pilots who fly to the Vanguard Squadron in the New Republic and the Titan Squadron in the Empire respectively.
Dogfight – Up to 10 players are divided into two groups and fight each other. This mode is similar to a team deathmatch.
Fleet Battles – Follow the premises similar to air combat, but the goal is not to target and destroy the “capital ship”, and the winning team destroys the enemy flagship.
The game was released on June 15, 2020, and a trailer was released. It will be set to be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2020, and enable cross-platform playback. PC and PS4 versions can be played in virtual reality using various VR headsets. Confirm that the PC version supports HOTAS. Although the game will not be available on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, it can still be played on both consoles through backward compatibility.
