The Mandalorian season 2 is an American streaming TV series produced by Jon Favreau for Disney+. The service was launched in November 2019 and made its debut. It is the first live-action series in the “Star Wars” series. It started five years after the events of “Return of the Jedi” (1983), and played Pedro Pascal as the title character, a lone bounty hunter hired to retrieve the “The Child”.
The creator of “Star Wars” George Lucas started developing a live-action version of the “Star Wars” TV series in 2009, but the project was considered too expensive to produce. After selling Lucasfilm to Disney in October 2012, Disney+ began production of the new “Star Wars” series. Favreau signed in March 2018 as a writer and performer. His executives produced with Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson.
The title of the series was announced in October 2018 and filming began at the Manhattan Beach studio in California. Visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic developed the StageCraft technology of this series, using virtual scenes and 360-degree video walls to create the environment of this series. Since then it has been adopted by other films and TV works.
The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ on November 12, 2019. The first season of the eight episodes was well received. It was nominated for the best drama series at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards and won seven Primetime Emmy Awards for Creative Arts. The second season is scheduled to premiere in October 2020, and the development of the third season has already begun.
The Mandalorian premiered on the US launch day (November 12, 2019) of the streaming service Disney+. The second season is scheduled to premiere on October 30, 2020.
