“Wild Mountain Thyme” is an upcoming theater film adapted and directed by John Patrick Shanley based on his play “Outside Mullingar”. It is starred Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm, Dearbhla Molloy, and Christopher Walken. It is scheduled to be released by Bleecker Street on December 11, 2020.

When the patriarch threatened to hand over the farm to his American nephew instead of his own son, Irish families clashed.

It was announced in May 2019 that John Patrick Shanley will write and direct an adaptation of his screenplay “Outside Mullingar” by Jamie Dornan and Holliday Grainger By August, Emily Blunt, Jon Hamm, Christopher Walken and Dearbhla Molloy was added to the cast. Replacing Grainger in the role, Molloy replays the role from the script.

Filming began on September 30, 2019 in Crossmolina, Mayor County, Ireland.

It is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 11, 2020. The trailer was released on November 10, 2020, and was criticized for being criticized by The Irish Times for redefining black stereotypes.
